Wine Advocate There is a super 2001 waiting in the wings, but no one in his right mind is going to complain about the 2000 Aglianco del Vulture Basilisco, burly, muscular, and very concentrated with powerful notes of red and black berry fruit, truffles, herbs, and warm volcanic soil in a full-bodied, intense, and very long format. The wine is going to take some time to come around, and I would suggest waiting until 2006-2007 before opening it - it will easily last another dozen years. Score: 92. —Daniel Thomases, August 2004.
