Poggiotondo The Blend 2004
Rich color and sweet, round tannins are the objectives of the wine. Winemaker Alberto Antonini's vision of "The Blend" is to create a wine which has the identity of Tuscany, but is extremely consumer friendly. The complexity of Sangiovese, the juiciness of the Syrah and the softness of Merlot result in an interesting wine of excellent value. Wine Advocate The intriguing, dense ruby/purple-hued 2004 The Blend, equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot, and Syrah, is a modern-styled Tuscan red offering oodles of black cherry and currant fruit, a robust, corpulent texture, silky tannin, and a long finish. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years. Score: 88. —Robert Parker, August 2005. |
