Deep ruby purple in color with hints of crimson. The lifted blackberry, plum and cedar notes of Cabernet Sauvignon blend perfectly with the plum, anise and spice aromas of Shiraz. The palate is even and generous with layers of red berry fruits, anise and fruit pastille. The persistence of fruit sweetness and flavor is complemented by soft tannins and a lingering spicy finish.
Wine Advocate A heck-of-a-bargain, the deep ruby/purple-hued, fruity 2005 Cabernet/Shiraz (65% of the former and 35% of the latter) displays abundant ripe berry notes intermixed with notions of earth, pepper, and spice. With medium body, loads of fruit, and no hard edges, it is a well-made, delicious red to enjoy over the next 1-2 years. This wine is an exceptional bargain. Oxford Landing, the inexpensive line of wines marketed under the giant Yalumba umbrella, continues to produce quality wines at reasonable prices. If consumers can purchase well-stored examples, they are in for a real treat as these cuvees over-deliver for their price points.
